Today the Nevada State Democratic Party launched its newly remodeled Web site, www.nvdems.com, and a video series highlighting what Nevada’s Democratic delegation, led by Sen. Harry Reid, has done to improve the lives of Nevadans in the last year.
NSDP released the first in a series of testimonial videos featuring real Nevadans who have benefited from the funding, policies and programs in place thanks to the hard work of Sen. Reid, Congresswomen Dina Titus and Shelley Berkley and other Nevada Democrats.
The first video highlights how first-time home buyer tax credits helped on Las Vegas man become a homeowner while stimulating our local economy and boosting our housing market. Sean Sabatini, of Las Vegas, said he wouldn’t have felt secure enough to make such a large purchase without the tax credit, which was passed as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act championed by Sen. Reid and Nevada Democrats.
“Knowing that I was going to get the tax credit allowed me to buy a house that was in need of a little repair,” Sabatini said. “That was good for me and it was good for my plumber and my painters. And it was probably good for the neighborhood, too. I’m 51 years old and this is my first house.
“The legislation… that included this tax credit was something that Nevada certainly needed.”

The videos in the series will highlight how in 2009 – despite Republican obstructionism and the GOP’s mantra of “no” – Democrats:
• Passed a stimulus package, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, that created and saved jobs and extended unemployment benefits.
• Passed legislation ensuring equal pay for women.
• Championed economic policies that reversed the previous 8 years of failed leadership.
While Republicans offered a year of the same old failed Bush-Cheney policies, tired rhetoric and no new ideas, Nevada’s Democratic delegation here and in Washington worked to change the lives of ordinary Nevadans.
