DON’T BE FOOLED. SHARRON ANGLE AND HER CAMPAIGN KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING WHEN THEY COORDINATED WITH TARKANIAN. AND THEY KNEW IT WAS WRONG.
Angle On IEs In The Primary: “The Federal Law Forbids Us From Having Any Contact With Them Because It Says You Can Not Coordinate Those Efforts.” “The University of Nevada, Reno alum is also getting her message out on the airwaves with advertising paid for by her campaign and from the Tea Party movement. She's the only candidate in the primary to be endorsed by the Tea Party. ‘They have been doing independent expenditures. The federal law forbids us from having any contact with them because it says you can not coordinate those efforts, so I'm as surprised as you are when their ad comes up on the TV and radio,’ she said.” [KLAS Channel 8, 5/19/10]
Angle’s “Nevada Guy” Defended Their Campaign’s Distance From Dick Morris’ IE: “Mrs. Angle Has Never Met Dick Morris, Nor Will She Be Meeting Him If He Is Doing Any Independent Expenditure.” “Asked to comment on Morris' involvement in the race, Angle spokesman Jerry Stacy said in an e-mail that ‘to my knowledge Mrs. Angle has never met Dick Morris, nor will she be meeting him if he is doing any independent expenditure’ in the Nevada race, given legal restrictions.” [Associated Press, 7/13/10]
Angle Knew She Couldn’t Coordinate With IEs During The Primary, Said Citizens United Said “We Never Want To Talk With You Again.” Q: What has the TEA Party told you that they can do for you as far as money?
Angle: I believe that they are just like any other endorsing PAC. We haven’t really discussed what that would look like in terms of monetary value. You know I have Citizens United PAC, they gave me $5,000 and said you know we never want to talk with you again, because of the independent expenditure that goes along with the PAC, those are the kinds of things that PACs do. [Salon, 4/15/10]
Angle On IE’s Like The Tea Party Express And Club For Growth: “You Can’t Coordinate.” Angle: As you said, when there are independent expenditure groups like the Tea Party Express, Clubs for Growth, everyone that wants to play. They give you the $5,000, they tell you they love you and they don’t want to talk to you ever again. And that’s what happens, you can’t coordinate, you don’t know what they’re going to say or what’re they are going to do next. And we’re just going to have to get used to it here in Nevada that there are going to be a lot of people wanting to play on this on both sides because this is a nationwide race. [Heidi Harris in the Morning, 5/26/10]
Angle Knew She Couldn’t Coordinate With Karl Rove’s Right Wing Front Group; “They Go Out And Do Their Own Thing.” Heidi Harris: What do you think about the American Crossroads ad? We had American Crossroads folks on yesterday, and uh interesting PAC. They've gotten quite a bit of money. They've put out some pretty good ads I think against Harry Reid
Angle: Well, you know, there is not much I can think they're an independent expenditure.
Heidi Harris: Right I understand.
Angle: We don't collaborate.
Heidi Harris: No I understand that you can’t.
Angle: I know they love me. They go out and do their own thing. It’s what they do. [Heidi Harris in the Morning, 7/21/10]
Angle: “Don’t Ask Me What Karl Rove Is Doing. I Don’t Know. I Don’t Know What Dick Morrison Is Doing. I Don’t Know What Club For Growth Or Tea Party Express.” Angle: We’re also looking at some of the things that are happening within independent expenditure groups and they’re hitting at some of the issues as well, and as you know independent expenditures are like the swift boats. When they give you that little five hundred, thousand dollar PAC check they say Sharron we love you but we never want to talk to you again. And so I never know what they’re gonna do, so don’t ask me what Karl Rove is doing. I don’t know. I don’t know what Dick Morrison is doing. I don’t know what Club for Growth or Tea Party Express or you can name them. They’re all out there, they’re wanting to help us here in Nevada and we’re welcoming their help, so we thank them very much for that. [Angle Campaign Event, 8/2/10]
