Sun to Lowden: Crack a civics text book lately?

Sue Lowden wants to be Nevada's next US Senator. What would be funny if it weren't so alarming, is that Lowden apparently doesn't even understand the job description or the responsibilities of a US Senator.

Lowden made that clear when she fired off a release Friday calling on Pres. Barack Obama, Sen. Harry Reid and – doh! – Rep. Nancy Pelosi to “cross party lines” to pick a new Supreme Court Justice.

If only Nancy Pelosi had, let’s see, ANYTHING to do with choosing the next justice of the SCOTUS. Political reporter Jon Ralston was quick to point out that Lowden needed to crack an 8th grade civics textbook.

"Sometimes it’s better in campaigns just to shut up,” Ralston wrote. “Nancy Pelosi has as much to do with confirming a Supreme Court justice as I do. That’s what happens when you can’t resist using every event to take a shot. Sometimes you shoot yourself.”
