Sharron Angle’s been hiding from the
media and Nevada voters and attempting to whitewash her extreme record on
everything from Social Security (kill it!) to Yucca Mountain (build it!). But
if the company this GOP Senate candidate keeps is any indication, it will be
hard to hide those radical leopard spots for long.
A look at Angle’s severely scrubbed campaign website shows she is aggressively touting an endorsement by The Declaration Alliance. The Desert Beacon reports that this group, led by Terry Lakin, holds amongst its most mainstream beliefs the conspiracy theory that the president wasn’t born in the U.S.
“Summary: He's a Birther. However, there's more to the Declaration Alliance than mere whacky Birtherism.”
“Another project of the Declaration Alliance is the ‘Declaration of American Renewal,’ which… would conveniently declare unenforceable such things as the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Covenant on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, and the Geneva Conventions.”
“The Declaration Alliance has several subsidiary projects, one of which is the ‘PrayInJesusName.org’ site… (which) informs us that if the ‘homosexual agenda’ is enacted,” – and by agenda we mean the Employment Non-Discrimination Act – “all Christian schools, bookstores, and church owned ministerial enterprises will be forced to close their doors.”
So, the Desert Beacon wants to know:
1) By accepting the endorsement of the Declaration Alliance does Angle support the attempt by Terry Lakin and other "Birthers" to have the President of the United States declared ineligible for office?
2) Does she believe the Employment Non-Discrimination Act will result in the immediate closure of Christian schools, book stores, and ministry enterprises?
3) Does she support rendering the Geneva Conventions, and other international agreements, unenforceable?
Of course, they’ll have to get Angle to come out of hiding and answer a question that wasn’t fielded by conservative talk radio first. And good luck to them.
