Dean Heller: My Job as a U.S. Senator Is to Help Trump Succeed

by Nevada Democrats

Las Vegas, NV – On Friday in Las Vegas – following a paid-ticket luncheon that was marred by hecklers – vulnerable Republican Senator Dean Heller was asked what he thinks of President Donald Trump, and Heller told reporters: “my job as a United States Senator is to help him succeed.”

Watch the exchange here.

Reporter: “I’m trying to read your level of faith in this President at this point after what you’ve been seeing for the first 100-plus days. What do you think of Donald Trump?”

Heller: “Trump is President of the United States. Trump is the President of the United States, and he will be President of the United States for the next three and three quarter years. And so my job as a United States Senator is to help him succeed.”

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Stewart Boss released the following statement:

“No wonder lazy Senator Dean Heller has been voting with Trump 97% of the time in Washington – he apparently thinks he was elected to help President Trump succeed instead of protecting our state from this disastrous, corrupt administration. Dean Heller has clearly forgotten that his job in the Senate is to represent Nevada and fight for his constituents, and that’s why he’ll be replaced by a Democrat in 2018.”
