Las Vegas, NV - Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Roberta Lange released the following statement in response to corporate layoff specialist Mitt Romney selecting as his Vice-Presidential nominee the architect of Romney’s plan to end Medicare by turning it over to private insurance companies:

“Paul Ryan’s selection only further highlights how devastating Mitt Romney’s policies would be for Nevada’s middle class and seniors.  The budget-busting Romney-Ryan plan would end Medicare by turning it over to private insurance companies to pay for taxpayer giveaways to Wall Street corporations that are shipping American jobs overseas.  The Romney-Ryan plan gives special tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires while raising taxes on middle class families.  Mitt Romney’s selection makes clear the choice Nevadans have between President Obama’s commitment to moving our country forward by creating jobs and strengthening the middle class, and the Romney-Ryan agenda that guts middle class investments to pay for tax cuts for millionaires and Big Oil companies making record profits.”
