REID STATEMENT AFTER PRESIDENT OBAMAS SPEECH IN OHIO

Washington, D.C.- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today released the following statement after President Obama’s speech in Cleveland, Ohio:

“President Obama believes as I do that we need to create good paying middle class jobs and pay down our long-term debt to strengthen our nation’s economy. A bright economic future is within our grasp, and under President Obama’s leadership we can continue to chart a path to success.

"President Obama is creating an economy built to last by investing in education, clean energy, innovation, and infrastructure. Investments in these industries will create an economy that’s built not from the top down, but from a growing middle class. Republicans like Governor Romney believe the best way to grow the economy is from the top down, but these policies would squeeze the middle class and line the pockets of the wealthiest few. They have failed in the past and they will fail again.

"The President’s address in Ohio today sent a clear message to Nevadans and all Americans:  We can work with him to build a strong and fair economy.”
