"Nevada was the epicenter of the housing market crash fueled by Wall Street greed and recklessness, and this vote is yet another reminder that Senator Heller is out of touch with his constituents."

Las Vegas, NV – Today, vulnerable Republican Senator Dean Heller continued his perfect 100% Trump voting record with his vote to confirm Wall Street lawyer Jay Clayton to head the Securities and Exchange Commission. Earlier this year, Senator Heller also voted for Wall Street “foreclosure king” Steve Mnuchin to serve as Treasury Secretary.

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Stewart Boss released the following statement:

“Ever since Donald Trump was sworn in as President, Senator Dean Heller has been a lazy rubber stamp 100 percent of the time for Trump’s rigged Cabinet of unqualified billionaires like Betsy DeVos and Wall Street insiders like Steve Mnuchin. That streak continued today with Dean Heller’s vote for a Wall Street lawyer and former Goldman Sachs bailout attorney to be the federal government's top watchdog for Wall Street banks. Jay Clayton lacks any public service or law enforcement experience, and he is riddled with ethical conflicts of interest after a career on Wall Street representing corporations regulated by the SEC. Nevada was the epicenter of the housing market crash fueled by Wall Street greed and recklessness, and this vote is yet another reminder that Senator Heller is out of touch with his constituents.”
