Las Vegas, NV – Nevada State Democratic Party Communications Director Stewart Boss released the following statement on Republican Senator Dean Heller announcing today that he will not support the House GOP health care bill in its current form:
“Senator Heller is a human weathervane who waited for weeks to say publicly where he stands on his own party’s disastrous health care bill. Nevada’s senior U.S. Senator says he’s running for re-election to be our state’s strongest voice on Capitol Hill, but the reality is he’s once again too weak and spineless to take a position on major issues until after Governor Sandoval has weighed in. Heller’s constituents won’t forget that he has spent the last five years demanding the full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which has saved lives and significantly expanded coverage in Nevada. We look forward to seeing how many times Senator Heller flips and flops on this reckless and controversial effort to undo progress on health care reform.”
Senator Heller has voted numerous times to undermine and repeal the Affordable Care Act. Heller is the most endangered Republican Senator up for re-election in 2018. Three recent polls so far this year have shown him in trouble.
