Las Vegas, NV – The most partisan Attorney General in Nevada’s history is more focused on running for Governor than actually doing his job, and the latest example is Adam Laxalt’s low energy speech today to the NRA’s annual “Leadership Forum” alongside fellow extreme Republicans like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
Laxalt’s boring, hyperpartisan speech in Georgia wasn’t even well-received. The politics reporter for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution tweeted this:
This speech from Nevada AG Laxalt speech is bringing down the energy at the #NRAAM2017 event. And I’m hungry.

In a poll released this week, 67% of gun owners said the NRA has been “overtaken by lobbyists and the interests of gun manufacturers.” While Laxalt is publicly pandering to the gun lobby, he’s also continuing to refuse to enforce the will of Nevada voters who passed Question 1 to expand background checks on gun sales in the 2016 election.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Stewart Boss released the following statement:
“Adam Laxalt’s right-wing ideological opposition to keeping dangerous people from buying firearms reinforces yet again that he is the most partisan Attorney General in Nevada’s history. The fact that Attorney General Laxalt is pandering to the gun lobby today while still refusing to implement the background checks law shows that he cares more about doing the bidding of partisan special interests than implementing the will of Nevada voters. Nevadans won’t elect a Governor who puts his blind political ambition ahead of their safety.”
