Statewide campaign will focus on grassroots organizing up and down the ballot.
LAS VEGAS — The Nevada State Democratic Party has launched the official Democratic statewide coordinated campaign for 2022: Democrats for Nevada. This campaign will focus on grassroots organizing: registering thousands of voters, building a multiracial, multigenerational coalition, and supporting candidates in races at every level.
“A two-point lead isn’t enough,” explained NSDP Chair Judith Whitmer, “we need to significantly expand the number of Democrats in office; not just in Las Vegas and Reno, but in every single county in the state. We need Democrats on school boards, in city councils, in District Attorney seats, and on municipal utility boards. Not only does this build our Democratic bench for the future, but local offices have the most direct day-to-day impact on people’s lives, so we need to make sure that local candidates have the support of the state party. We also need to expand our majority in the state legislature, re-elect Governor Sisolak and Senator Cortez Masto, and make sure that all four of our congressional districts are represented by Democrats.”
“We know that when Democrats organize and turn out new voters, we win,” said NSDP Executive Director Christopher Klarich, who previously served as the Nevada Caucus Director for the 2020 Bernie Sanders campaign, which saw an overwhelming victory based on a similar model. “The Democratic Party is the party that fights for working people, and we’re going to bring together Democrats from across the state to do exactly that.”
