Over the weekend, POLITICO revealed that GOP Senators Ted Cruz and Lamar Alexander have been quietly asking the Senate Republican conference to fill out an unusual survey asking about their support for dozens of legislative proposals, some of them “highly controversial.” Mitch McConnell and Republican senators have no real agenda for the next six months, and they aren’t sure what to do between now and the November elections… so this is their plan to solicit feedback.
Sen. Dean Heller has presumably weighed in on potential proposals like taking another stab at repealing and dismantling the Affordable Care Act, attacking the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, defunding Planned Parenthood, and limiting access to anti-poverty programs.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Sarah Abel released the following statement:
“Given Sen. Heller’s track record of saying one thing in public and then doing another in Washington, Nevadans deserve to see his responses to this survey. If Dean Heller will tell Ted Cruz what he hopes to ram through Congress during his final months in office, he should tell Nevadans as well. Sen. Heller should immediately release this survey so Nevadans can see for themselves what his real priorities are between now and November.”
