Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II released the following statement after opening briefs were submitted in California v. Texas:
“As a candidate, Donald Trump promised to ‘save’ health care for every Nevada family. Three and a half years later and in the midst of a global pandemic, he and the Republican Party are instead waging a ruthless campaign to threaten working families’ health coverage, spike health care costs, and undermine protections for Nevadans with preexisting conditions. Nevadans saw through Trump’s empty rhetoric in 2016, and this November, we’re putting an end to his failed legacy of broken promises.”
BACKGROUND ON TRUMP’S BROKEN PROMISES ON HEALTH CARE
Promise: "We're going to have health care that is so good and so much less expensive … I'm asking for your vote, so we can save health care for every family in your state and in this country." [Trump Campaign Rally, Las Vegas NV, 10/30/16]
Reality: If Trump successfully overturns the Affordable Care Act, 282,000 Nevadans could lose their health insurance—alongside millions of Americans across the country.
