Today Republican Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is campaigning with Cresent Hardy in Nevada’s Fourth District. McCarthy and Hardy are in lock-step on ending protections for people with pre-existing conditions and repealing the Affordable Care Act.
As the Majority Leader, McCarthy whipped votes for the Republican attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act and protections for pre-existing conditions. McCarthy has received more than $1.2 million dollars from special interests who support repealing the Affordable Care Act. McCarthy’s cozy relationship with special interests has paid off for big companies but not for the public--McCarthy voted to keep prescription drug prices high by preventing Medicare from negotiating with drug companies.
Cresent Hardy’s Record on Health Care
- Hardy supports cutting Social Security and Medicare to pay for tax giveaways to special interests and the richest 1%.
- Hardy voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
- Hardy opposes any kind of health care protections for consumers.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Michael Soneff released the following statement:
“Cresent Hardy and Kevin McCarthy are more concerned with increasing profits for special interests than they are with helping Nevadans who struggle with the high cost of prescription drugs. Hardy has made it clear that he will be little more than a rubber-stamp for the Republican establishment’s attempts to repeal protections for pre-existing conditions and end the Affordable Care Act. Steven Horsford is a true fighter for Nevada’s working families, and has the record to prove it.”
