Subject: Democrats End 2018 Voter Registration with 75,000 Advantage Over Republicans

Date: Saturday, October 20, 2018

All signs point to the fact that midterm races in Nevada are shaping up to be highly competitive and won by razor-thin margins, but Democrats are poised to win. Our team of organizers and volunteers has spent the last several months registering voters across the state, and have increased our advantage over Republicans for the past seven months in a row. Voter registration is one of the key metrics for success in Nevada — and we’ve strengthened our position and ended the voter registration period in Nevada in a better position than previous midterm cycles.

Despite the RNC’s boasting of a huge, early investment in a Nevada field program, Democrats have grown our active voter registration lead this year using proven strategies that work. At the close of registration, despite a routine inactivation of some voters earlier this year, Democrats maintained a 74,923 voter registration advantage.

Based on previous midterm years, Nevada Democrats are in better shape at this point in the cycle than in 2014 or 2010 in terms of our raw advantage statewide.

  • In 2014, Democrats had a 62,036 registration advantage at the close of registration, making 2018 a more than 20 percent improvement for Democrats in terms of raw advantage.

  • In 2010, Democrats had a 60,108 registration advantage at the close of registration, making 2018 a nearly 25 percent improvement for Democrats in terms of raw advantage.

Our organizing program registered tens of thousands of voters in less than eight months, increasing Democrats’ raw advantage over Republicans by over 10,000 voters since the March routine inactivation and gaining in key areas across the state.
