Nevada Assembly GOP’s New Caucus Leader Jim Wheeler Open to Voting for Slavery

by Nevada Democrats

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Stewart Boss released the following statement on Assemblyman Jim Wheeler being elected today as the new leader of the Assembly Republican caucus:

“The fact that Assembly Republicans feel comfortable putting a legislator who’s open to voting for slavery in charge of their caucus is disturbing and deeply offensive. Assemblyman Wheeler’s troubling rhetoric and recent efforts to smear the African-American leaders of Nevada’s legislature have been matched by a political agenda designed to restrict voting rights, block bipartisan reforms to the criminal justice system and demonize immigrants. Assemblyman Wheeler has made it his mission as a legislator to increase the corrosive partisanship and political dysfunction in Carson City, and he is a toxic choice to lead the Assembly Republican caucus.”

#TBT to 2013 — Senator Roberson: "It's time for Jim Wheeler to find a new line of work."
