Today, the NV Dems announced the addition of two new staffers to its growing communications team for the 2018 election cycle. Michael Soneff will serve as communications advisor to congressional campaigns, working to defeat the disastrous Republican ticket and helping to elect Susie Lee, Steven Horsford, Dina Titus, and Clint Koble to Congress. Renzo Olivari will serve as constituency media press secretary, focusing on engaging with Nevada’s diverse communities about issues that matter to them.
“Adding Michael and Renzo to our team is proof of the NV Dems’ commitment to electing Democrats in every corner of Nevada and fighting for every vote in communities across the state,” said William McCurdy II, chairman of the Nevada State Democratic Party. “With less than 12 weeks to go until Election Day, Nevada Democrats are bolstering our communications and rapid response efforts to share our message of opportunity, fairness, and equality for all with voters this year.”
Michael Soneff is working to elect Nevada Democrats to the U.S. Congress and flip the House in 2018. Michael most recently served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for California Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragán. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Michael worked as a campaign manager and political consultant on local, state, and federal campaigns. While earning his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, Michael started working on political campaigns—first as a volunteer and then as a staffer.
“I’m ready to hit the ground running to elect representatives who will fight for Nevadans and be independent voices for them in Congress,” said Michael Soneff. “Danny Tarkanian and Cresent Hardy would be rubber-stamps for Trump policies that will hurt seniors and working families while putting wealthy corporate interests first.”
Renzo Olivari is joining the NV Dems as constituency media press secretary. He will be focused on communicating with Spanish-speaking and AAPI media as part of the NV Dems’ unique efforts to engage communities of color in the state. Before joining the NV Dems, he was working as communications director for Leslie Cockburn for Congress in Virginia. In 2017, he worked in the Virginia gubernatorial race as an organizer in the Shenandoah Valley, where he organized a city with a considerable Latinx community. Renzo was born in Peru, and his first language is Spanish; he came to the United States in 2005, when he was 8 years old.
"I'm excited to join the incredible team here in Nevada that's fighting for a diverse slate of candidates and prioritizing communications with diverse communities in the state,” said Renzo Olivari. “There is so much at stake for communities of color in this election and I am looking forward to working with them as part of the inclusive campaign the NV Dems are running."
