NV Dems Chair Statement on the Announcement of Trump’s Tulsa Rally

by Nevada Democrats

Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II released the following statement in response to news of a Trump campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma scheduled to take place on Juneteenth:

“Donald Trump’s racist rhetoric just went from dog whistle to megaphone. He gave a direct nod to white supremacists when he scheduled his first rally in months in Tulsa, Oklahoma--the site of one of the worst instances of racial violence in our country’s history--on Juneteenth, the anniversary of the abolishment of slavery. Throughout his tenure, the president repeatedly made clear he has no intention of repairing racial inequality, ending institutional racism, or healing the wounds of the Black community that have deepened over centuries. He’s done just the opposite. We should be able to lean on our president and look to our leaders for hope, but the only hope I have is that we will kick him out of office in November.”
