Today, Governor Sisolak signed Senate Bill 231 and Assembly Bill 136 into law. Together, these bills reverse 2015 Republican-led efforts to strip Nevada's workers of fair wages. They empower our workforce by removing barriers for union workers under public works projects and once again enact a prevailing wage.
“Nevada’s workforce is the backbone of our economy so it is imperative we lift up workers every chance we get,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair William McCurdy II. “Together, this legislation shields against unfair competition and offers everyone the same opportunities when it comes to public construction projects. While Republicans worked to scale these protections back putting corporations first, Democrats are prioritizing hardworking Nevadans as we work to increase the minimum wage, ensure workers get paid their fair share, and make it so they’re able to operate on a level playing field.”
