Washington, DC – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement on Nevada Senate Bill 119 which is being heard in the Nevada Assembly Government Affairs Committee this morning:
"As Nevada’s economy continues to recover, we need to be doing everything we can to create good-paying jobs and ensure that these jobs are going to Nevadans. The legislation before the Republican Nevada legislature does neither. What good does it do to our state’s recovery to have construction jobs going to residents of other states? What good does it do to our state’s recovery to cut the wages of Nevada’s workers? We can all agree that Nevada should be building and improving our schools. But we can’t do this on the backs of the middle class - that is counterproductive. Republicans in the Nevada legislature should think long and hard if slashing wages for Nevadans, giving jobs to out-of-staters all while protecting loopholes for big corporations is an accomplishment they want on their watch."
