Last night California Congressman Devin Nunes held a campaign event with Cresent Hardy. Hardy is in lock-step with Devin Nunes on cutting Social Security and Medicare. Cresent Hardy supports drastic cuts to Social Security, including raising the retirement age from 65 to 75, eliminating Social Security benefits for tens of thousands of seniors in Nevada’s 4th District. Hardy wants to privatize Medicare, turning it into a voucher system, and has supported Republican plans to raise the eligibility age for Medicare. Nunes voted to voucherize Medicare and campaigned for privatizing Social Security.
Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Michael Soneff released the following statement:
“Cresent Hardy’s goal of cutting Social Security and Medicare doesn’t sit well with Nevada seniors. In Washington, Hardy would be a rubber stamp for the wealthy special interests that want to end Social Security and Medicare as we know it, turning Social Security and Medicare over to Wall Street banks and private corporations. Steven Horsford will protect Social Security and Medicare. Nevadans deserve a representative who shares their values and will fight for them in Congress.”
