Candidates for Joe Biden

Susan Bush

Statement 1

To My Fellow Delegates-

I am seeking your support as a candidate for National Delegate CD-4 for Joe Biden. I have raised my family in CD-4 for the last 16 years.  I love our neighborhood, schools and the community around us.  I have watched the community grow as it faces new challenges with every passing year.

The issues facing us as a Nation are prevalent in the lives of my teenage daughters. They are very cognizant and discuss important issues with me that impact them and their future.  School shootings, racism, global warming, immigration reform and the economy concern all of our children.

I took my 15 year old daughter to a Biden for President rally last summer and she heard him discuss these same issues.  It really resonated with her and provided her with a sense of hope.  Hope that a candidate cares about her future, and the future of our Country.  I have been a strong supporter of Joe Biden since then.

As a life long Democrat and working mother, I am aware of the issues facing the families of CD-4. I would be honored to represent the people of CD-4 at the National Convention as a delegate for our candidate, Joe Biden.

Thank you for this opportunity.

Susan Bush

George Davis

Statement 3

Hi, I’m George Davis and first, I would like to say Thank You to those who have taken the time to read my statements on why I am running to be a National Delegate for Congressional District 4.  I hope that through my statements, my drive and my passion to represent this district at the Democratic National Convention has been conveyed.  Since starting this process in February, after the primary elections, my commitment to helping the Democratic Party and Vice-President Joe Biden defeat the current administration in November has continued to grow steadily.  The United States is hurting right now and the ineffectiveness of this current administration to address and provide comfort to the citizens of this country, only drives me more to wanting to help Vice-President Biden become the next President of the United States.   Lastly, as a National Delegate I believe it is my duty to support and advocate for the acceptance of Nevada’s Democratic Platform and to push for a national platform that encompasses our beliefs as much as possible.   Specifically, I am very passionate in criminal justice reform and I wholeheartedly support  our current 2020 Clark County Democratic platform for criminal justice reform as it states “We support a criminal justice system that promotes accountable and transparent policing, increased educational services for law enforcement, the incarcerated, and tangential service providers; unbiased prosecution; fair sentencing; safe prisons; and comprehensive rehabilitation to help released prisoners become productive members of society.”

Statement 1

There is nothing more important to the State of Nevada or to the United States of America than the success of the Democratic Candidate for President in this year’s Presidential Election.  If you grant me the privilege of serving as your District Level Delegate, I would energetically work for the success of the Democratic Party in Nevada and nationally.

I am a proud Nevada resident who values our state’s free-thinking independence.

As a retired government attorney, I proudly took an oath to uphold and defend the United States Constitution. I am still committed to that oath and to the values of public service.

I take pride in my 25-year career of public service.  I continue to serve as a Volunteer Leader in Team Rubicon, a non-profit organization that provides disaster response and community assistance.  I am also a Field Registrar in Clark County because I passionately believe in voter registration and participation. Most recently I have volunteered with the Las Vegas Fashion Council to sew masks for hospitals and nursing homes.

I would be privileged and honored to serve as a National Delegate in this 2020 Presidential Election where so much is at stake for the State of Nevada and for our Nation.

Romona Henderson

Statement 2

Fellow Democrats in Congressional District 4, My name is Romona Henderson, and I am seeking the position of District Level National Delegate, and At Large National Delegate.

Like you, I have enjoyed the opportunity to review the candidate statements of others seeking to represent us during the National Convention.

I can say with absolute certainty, that each of us would represent our state well.  However, my intent is not only to represent our interest at the highest level, but to do so with heartfelt passion and unbridled energy.

We have perhaps more at stake in terms of this election, than I can recall in my entire adult life.

Partners, this is a time for decisive action, and ownership of accountability.  Now more than ever each and every one of us must stand up and ensure that our voices are heard, our votes are counted, and that WE demonstrate our ability to master change!

In recent days we have watched and listened for some semblance of sensibility, and at least marginal leadership from our President.  We received nothing other than lies, omissions, and photo opportunities that are absurd at best.

We have watched our relatives, friends, and neighbors out in streets across this nation and beyond, crying out for justice for all.  Again, from our President…nothing.

Conversely, from our candidate Joe Biden, what have we seen and heard?  We have seen leadership and experience.  We have seen honest and open compassion.  We have seen a true patriot who understands that our strength as a nation is based upon contributions, commitment, and economic stability/opportunity for ALL citizens of our nation, irrespective of race, creed, or national origin.

Statement 1

Jennifer Rohrbach

Statement 2

America is in crisis. We are experiencing a global pandemic, historic unemployment levels, and civil unrest related to racial, social and economic injustice.

At a time when current administration leadership has failed to acknowledge the fears, frustration and sense of hopelessness many are experiencing, I pledge to be your voice at the National Convention, in support of our candidate  and in support of our Democratic platform.

I am passionate about civil rights and human rights, gun violence prevention, healthcare, immigration and the environment. I will represent Nevada with integrity, passion and conviction.

The rage we’re seeing is from a fuse lit a long time ago. It’s real. We must acknowledge it, use our voice and be part of the solution. We must never be complacent in the voice of inequality and injustice.

To that extent, my name is Jennifer Rohrbach and I’m a Candidate for National Delegate CD-4 and At-Large candidate for Joe Biden. I respectfully ask for your vote. Thank you.

Cynthia Roocke

Statement 1

Hello Fellow Dems,

My name is Cynthia Roocke and I am running for the Nevada National Delegation.

I have been a lifelong Democrat and always believed in the promise of our country. A “hand up” is what America is all about. Joe Biden will be that hand up. He will continue the medical system that Obama began. He is a well educated man of politics. He will give us a united voice, a reasonable and loving leader and a mindful, thoughtful decision maker.

I am passionate, dedicated and loyal. I will proudly represent the “ Battle Born” State with all that I have.

I have been a volunteer, precinct captain and financial donor for the Joe Biden team since before day one.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Roocke

Craig Rosenstein

Statement 3

To My Fellow Delegates,

This is Craig Rosenstein, delegate candidate for Joe Biden from Congressional District 4.

This is my third and final message to you all.  I believe I have given you several academic reasons why I feel I am qualified to represent you at the National Convention.

I will give you one more qualification from the heart.

I wish to represent you at the Convention so that I may fight for a better and fairer America for your children, grand-children and generations yet to come.  I am 65; so most of what I will fight for I will probably not live long enough to truly see coming to fruition.  But the coming generations will.  I truly want this for my children and yours.  In the case of my children, that represents 5 biological children, and 10 adopted children from foster-care.  In my brood, my wife and I are the parents of one child with autism, 4 children that are African-American; 3 that are bi-racial and 1 that is Hispanic-American.  I want them to grow up in a world where they don’t have to be afraid to walk the streets, and grow up in the same world that I did – a world where they have all the joys and opportunities in life open to them if they want to grab for them.  This election is not only important to me; it’s personal to me.

I thank you for listening, and I ask for your vote.  In me, you will have a delegate who not only talks the talk, but walks the walk.

Blessings.

Jonathan Ruggiero

Statement 1

I am running to be a Biden delegate because our country needs him, and our Democratic party, more than ever now. We are facing great adversity from within because of the Occupant-In-Chief, and his Republican accomplices. When we retake the White House, the Senate, and countless State houses, we need to have the unity and the numbers to not only repair the damage that has been done, but to also form a better nation, and a better society. I want to do my part to see that happen. We can. We will. We must. Thank you.

Wayne Wilkening

Statement 3

Neighbors, my first two statements tell you a lot about myself and my qualifications to represent Nevada for a more just and fair America.  Now I’d like us all to listen.

We need to listen to people that report physical abuse or corporate wrongdoing.  These brave individuals need our help and support to correct the problems along with thanks for coming forward.

We need to listen to children who say they are afraid or are being abused.  It’s our duty to protect and nurture all children and create opportunities for them to thrive.

We need to listen to people who have been wronged by our government, the police or anyone that’s supposed to be serving and protecting us.  Change needs to be swift and broad.  Enough is enough!

We need to listen to environmentalists, academics and industry veterans to find ways to balance our approach to economic and environmental goals.  We have difficult decisions to make and the consequences will last generations.

We need to listen, really listen, when our neighbors are having a tough time and need some assistance.   Sometimes listening is all that’s needed.  Sometime it’s concern over access to healthcare for themselves or a loved one or how to cope with a difficult boss.  But first we all need to listen.

I’m a good listener.  I hear the pain, frustration and desire for change.  I want to participate as a delegate to ensure everything I’ve heard will be put into concrete action so please vote Wayne.

Candidates for Bernie Sanders

Nelson Bottoms

Statement 2

If elected as one of your Bernie Sanders National Delegates, I pledge to support Bernie Sanders at the National Convention.  As a pledged delegate, I will advocate for Bernie’s progressive agenda, and fight for the inclusion of his viewpoints on economic and workplace democracy, and workers’ self-management, in the National Democratic Party platform.

Progressive values are important not only to me but to a vast number of Americans. The full inclusion of marginalized people in local and national political discussions is essential to fortifying the principles of American democracy. Our voices are invigorated by Bernie’s message.

I am one of the millions of voices represented in Bernie’s message.  Having experienced discrimination firsthand, it is my honor to echo Bernie’s message as a District-Level National Delegate.  I have worked in politics as a volunteer, door-to-door canvasser, data entry, and telephone surveyor. I am loyal to my commitments, strong-willed when it is necessary and open to experience and learning. I ask for your support in my goal to represent the State of Nevada and its diverse citizens in this honored role.

Statement 1

J Culver

Statement 2

My fellow Democrats,

My name is Joe or Joanne Culver. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers/He/Him/His and I am writing to you for your support in my bid to be  District 4 delegate for Bernie Sanders.

As I stated in my last letter, I am in a unique position to represent marginalized communities in the Democratic Party who has stated on many occasions that people like myself should be represented in all aspects of the party. I would take that opportunity very seriously because marginalized communities have no voice, and I want to be one of those voices advocating the hardest.

If you should choose to give me that deep responsibility to Represent Bernie and his values at the Democratic National Convention, it is my promise that I will spend every minute I am there promoting his values. Values that include but not limited to, Medicare for All, Free College tuition and Elimination of student debt and promoting marginalized communities interest that include but are not limited to  Black Lives Matter, The Green New Deal, and LGBTQ+ issues which are very prominent for today.

Thank you so much for your consideration and I am asking you for your vote for District 4 Bernie Sanders Delegate.

Kindest personal regards,

J Culver

Brittany Farmer

Statment 1

My Name is Brittany Farmer and I am running for a National Delegate Position for Bernie Sanders. I am an 18-year Nevada resident, moving here when I was 16 years old. I am now a full-time working mother and a shop steward for Teamsters 986.

I have a 6-year-old daughter who deserves to have clean air, clean water, healthcare without bankruptcy, a free education and a livable wage. I don’t only want this for my daughter, but I believe these are rights to every human being no matter your race, class, gender or sexual orientation. These are human rights. Therefore, I support Senator Bernie Sanders for the President of the United States of America.

Please consider me when you cast your vote for the Nevada National Delegate position.

Christian Gonzalez

Statement 2

Hi Bernie Delegates,

I hope that you are all doing well and safe. I believe national delegates should be representative of the community that voted for Bernie Sanders and representative of the United States. As a 20-year-old, I know that my generation overwhelmingly supported Bernie Sanders because his vision is a vision in which my generation can breathe clean air, drink clean water and live in a sustainable environment. As a Hispanic, I know what Senator Sanders’ immigration and economic policies would have done for my community. As a college student going into law school, I know what it means to have student loan debt. As a person with a pre-existing condition that relies on prescription drugs, I know what it would mean if I did not have insurance. Trust me when I say that if I am elected that I will carry these struggles and experiences forward to make sure that the Democratic Party includes issues like student debt, immigration reform and environmental justice. I hope I can count on your vote.

In Solidarity,

Christian Gonzalez

Kara Hall

Statement 1

My name is Kara Hall and I’m running for National Delegate for Bernie Sanders in CD4. I have lived in Nevada for over 10 years and have continuously been active in my community. Currently, I serve as co-chair for the Las Vegas chapter of Democratic Socialists of America and during Bernie’s 2020 Presidential campaign, I was a Precinct captain and volunteered for months to help run a Bernie staging location where we held caucus trainings and canvass launches for hundreds of people.

I, like Bernie, strongly support single-payer healthcare, the Green New Deal, student debt cancellation, free college, Palestinian rights, a $15 minimum wage, abolishing ice, getting money out of politics, workers rights including strong unions, and prioritizing education funding including raising teacher salaries. For over 30 years, Bernie has consistently been the voice of the silenced, he has stood up for workers and marginalized groups, and he’s been absolutely unapologetic about standing up for what was right, even if that meant standing alone.

I believe our current Democratic Party is moving in a direction opposite of the people it is supposed to represent. If I am elected National Delegate for Bernie Sanders, I will fight to ensure that the Democratic Party is one that represents the progressive policies that those here in Nevada want to see and what they voted for during the 2020 Nevada primary. We’ve made it clear that a revolution is indeed what this country needs and I’m committed to fighting for it.

Jake Marko

Statement 1

Nevada Democrats,

Our National Convention will need fighters on the floor advocating for our values, beliefs, and truly progressive policies every step of the way. Some of you may remember the 2018 NV State Convention and my efforts to put Abolish ICE in NVDem’s platform. We’re going to need delegates who will fight the same way for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and Campaign Finance Reform.

As a founding member of Our Revolution Nevada and as former field staff for the Bernie2020 campaign I know all to well what we’re up against in achieving a People’s Agenda and I plan to unrelentingly advocating for the agenda the people deserve!

It is what YOU deserve.

Statement 1

I am running for this position to be a voice for Nevada, CD-4, and fellow Americans. Recently, we have been faced with COVID-19 which has put a lot of us out of work. Now, more than ever, we can see that we need to fight for universal healthcare. We need to raise the minimum wage to at least $15 per hour. We also need our leaders in Washington to know that there is a problem with police departments across America. What happened to George Floyd and countless others is unacceptable and we need to enact real change so that these incidents don’t continue to happen. I support free higher education. You can’t get a better job if you’re not educated and you can’t pay for an education while working a minimum wage job. It just doesn’t make sense. I am pro union and I think collective bargaining to ensure fair wages and benefits is a good thing. We also need to implement the Green New Deal. We are behind the “8 ball” on this and we need to act swiftly to ensure a planet for future generations. Our planet is dying and the time to act was 10+ years ago. Our biggest challenge, however, is ensuring Donald Trump is not re-elected. He is the worst person to ever hold this office and is dividing the country further apart day after day.

“Not me, us”

-Bernie Sanders
