Lombardo Fails to Defend Nevada as Trump Administration Guts $156 Million Grant That Would’ve Lowered Nevadans’ Utility Costs

The Trump administration terminated a $156 million grant that would have reduced utility costs for thousands of low-income Nevadans. As utility bills rack up to $1,500 a month, these Solar for All grants provided relief to hardworking families and small businesses. While local organizations scramble to reverse this termination and brace for higher costs, Joe Lombardo has said nothing.

Lombardo is still Donald Trump’s Cheerleader-in-Chief, praising the Trump administration as they jack up energy costs after orchestrating the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in American history — even saying Trump’s generally “done good.”

Lombardo criticized investments made by federal Democrats while taking credit for job-creating projects funded by those same investments. As Trump guts these very projects, Lombardo has been silent about the potential loss of tens of thousands of good-paying jobs and rising costs.

Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland:

“The Trump administration just slashed a $156 million grant intended to reduce Nevadans’ energy bills — and Joe Lombardo remains unwilling to defend Nevada. Time and time again, Lombardo bends the knee to Donald Trump instead of standing up for working families when it matters most. As families drown in sky-high utility costs and struggle to put food on the table, it’s clear that the Lombardo-Trump Way means higher prices for working families.”
