Lombardo Should and Could Stand Up to Trump’s “Cruel” SNAP Cuts

Congresswoman Susie Lee called on Joe Lombardo to protect Nevada’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits that help nearly 500,000 Nevadans put food on the table. The Congresswoman underscored that Lombardo “does have a choice” to tap the state’s $1.3 billion state rainy day fund.

Under Lombardo, one in four Nevada children are already unsure where their next meal will come from — and these SNAP cuts will cause more pain for families across the state.

As Lombardo celebrated Trump’s disastrous budget bill that cuts billions from the SNAP, Nevada food banks also lost out on over one million pounds of food deliveries because of the Trump cuts.

Now, food banks are being forced to help sustain half a million Nevadans as the Trump administration willingly cuts off their SNAP benefits. Lombardo has yet to call on the Trump administration to use the $6 billion in USDA contingency funds to protect Nevadans’ SNAP benefits.
