NEVADA MAGA MAYHEM- WEEKLY SENATE UPDATE 3/15

Another week, another round of infighting for Nevada Senate Republicans who are making this the messiest and ugliest Senate primary in the country. This is Nevada MAGA Mayhem, your weekly update on the latest news from the Nevada Senate Republican Primary.

KEY TAKEAWAYS: New reporting highlights Sam Brown’s notable absence from the campaign trail and he, naturally, refused to comment, Trump opened the door to ax Social Security and Medicare – leaving all the other MAGA candidates to answer for him, and Brown’s close ties to an extreme anti-abortion, pro-Trump group is back in the spotlight.

SEE IT HERE FIRST👀👀

Yesterday, Sam Brown literally walked away from a reporter who asked him when he planned to debate his fellow GOP primary opponents after repeatedly calling for debates last cycle against Adam Laxalt.

Watch for yourself!

NEW REPORTING HIGHLIGHTS SAM BROWN’S ❌ABSENCE FROM THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL

A new report highlights Sam Brown’s glaring absence from the campaign trail, his unwillingness “to answer tough questions,” and the increasing attacks he’s facing from his fellow MAGA Republicans.

But don’t worry! During the last debate he skipped (and after a litany of criticism from his GOP primary opponents), Brown said he would start participating in primary debates after the candidate filing deadline today! And we’re all eagerly waiting to see if he follows through.

We pulled the highlights from the report here:

  • At this point in his 2022 campaign, Brown had participated in at least 42 press interviews and held 31 in-person events. As of January 2024, Brown had done only 15 interviews and made 17 public appearances. Five of those appearances were outside of Nevada.
  • “We joke within the campaign that Sam Brown’s favorite sport is dodgeball,” Republican Jeff Gunter said in a Feb. 16 radio interview. “Scam, Sam — whatever you want to call him — is just dodging.”
  • In 2022, Brown repeatedly attacked his opponent, former Attorney General of Nevada Adam Laxalt for skipping debates and holding out of state events.
  • A spokesperson for Brown did not immediately respond to questions for this story.

🔊MAGA CANDIDATES FORCED TO ANSWER AS TRUMP OPENS THE DOOR TO AXING ⛏️SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE

This week, Donald Trump floated cutting Social Security and Medicare if elected. And he’s not alone – MAGA extremist and enthusiastic Trump endorser Sam Brown has already supported an extreme plan to gut Social Security and Medicare benefits that Nevadans rely on and have earned through a lifetime of hard work.

Brown praised then-NRSC chair Rick Scott’s widely criticized plan to phase out Social Security and Medicare after five years, taking away a program that provides critical assistance to more than half a million Nevada seniors. Brown said he admired Scott for attempting to “create a roadmap for a better America.”

Every single candidate in the messy GOP primary has enthusiastically endorsed the disgraced former president and embraced his toxic agenda. These candidates will all be forced to defend the agenda of right-wing party leaders in Washington, out-of-state billionaires, and special interests over what’s best for hardworking Nevadans.

SAM BROWN CLOSELY 🪢TIED🪢 TO ANTI-ABORTION DARK MONEY GROUP, FAITH & FREEDOM, SET TO SPEND $62M BOOSTING TRUMP

As its former state president, Sam Brown has close ties to the ultra-conservative, anti-abortion Faith & Freedom Coalition, which just announced plans for a $62 million spending spree to boost Donald Trump’s campaign to take back the White House.

Faith & Freedom called Roe v. Wade a “moral atrocity,” backed a nationwide abortion ban and praised Texas’ six-week ban that outlaws abortion before many women even know they are pregnant. Despite calling his role a “passion project,” Brown is currently facing a Department of Justice complaint for failing to disclose his leadership position within the organization as required by federal ethics rules.

Brown has a decade-long anti-abortion record that includes supporting efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade, including and joining his MAGA primary opponents in endorsing Trump, who has bragged about being responsible for the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and recently came out in support of a national abortion ban.
