Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno released the following statement recognizing Labor Day:
“The grit and determination of the labor movement over generations led to what many of us consider standard practice today — from a 40-hour work week to overtime pay. Democrats are proud to work side by side with Nevada’s unions to continue delivering real results for working families and together, we’ve accomplished a lot in the Silver State. Defying national trends, organized labor in Nevada officially unionized all major Las Vegas Strip properties and Democrats proudly passed legislation to hold corporations accountable and improve working conditions. Our unions’ continued growth has made our state a better place for working families.
“Yet, as Nevada’s unemployment rate has gone up and families drown in sky-high prices, Joe Lombardo sides with Donald Trump and his union-busting billionaires at every opportunity. Since he started his term, Lombardo has vetoed dozens of pro-worker bills from becoming law. Nevada is union strong, but there is a lot more work left to be done and Democrats will always be on the side of Nevada workers.”
