Today, in response to Donald Trump endorsing Joe Lombardo after he flew to D.C. to beg for Trump’s support, Nevada State Democratic Party Executive Director Hilary Barrett released the following statement:
“Joe Lombardo jetted to D.C. to kiss the ring and beg for Donald Trump’s support while Nevadans go hungry and see their health care premiums soar. This endorsement makes clear that Lombardo will never stand up to Trump to do what’s right for Nevada — even as he guts health care, jacks up costs, and drives our economy into the ground.”
Trump’s approval rating is underwater by double digits in Nevada thanks to his unpopular, cost-raising agenda. His endorsement comes just days after Republicans lost by double digits in the Virginia and New Jersey governor’s races after the GOP candidates fully embraced Trump — and voters rejected their support for his failed economic policies at every turn.
Under Lombardo and Trump’s cost-raising agenda, hardworking families are drowning in record unemployment, unaffordable housing, health care cuts, and a growing hunger crisis.
- Lombardo refuses to defend our state against Trump’s damaging, cost-raising trade policies and even said Nevadans should “feel a little pain” from tariffs.
- Nevada had the highest unemployment in the nation and GOP policies only threaten to keep that number growing as tourism and travel to the state continue to decline. Unemployment is now higher in Nevada than when Lombardo took office in 2023.
- Lombardo said Nevadans should be “excited” about the GOP budget betrayal despite our state being one of the hardest hit by the bill’s funding and health care cuts.
- Lombardo is silent about the Trump administration killing infrastructure projects, jeopardizing tens of thousands of good-paying jobs and forcing higher utility costs.
- As Nevadans struggle to afford homes, Lombardo vetoed affordable housing legislation that would have helped stop Wall Street firms from pricing working Nevadans out of home ownership and prevented landlords from abusing tenants.
The bottom line: The Lombardo-Trump agenda is failing to deliver and that’s why Lombardo will be a one-term governor.
