Today, the Biden-Harris administration announced that Americans have been enrolling in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace at a record-breaking rate – on target for seven million more enrollments since President Biden took office – as Donald Trump and other MAGA Republicans double down on their promises to dismantle the ACA and endanger health care access for hundreds of thousands of Nevadans.
In stark contrast with Trump’s extreme agenda that could skyrocket health care costs and make Nevadans sicker, President Biden and Vice President Harris are making health care more accessible and affordable for Silver State families, including lowering the cost of prescription drugs, capping the cost of insulin for seniors, strengthening Medicare, and more.
If Trump is successful in repealing the Affordable Care Act, the consequences would be devastating for Nevada:
- About 487,000 nonelderly Nevadans with preexisting health conditions could lose the ACA’s protections.
- The health insurance of over 432,000 Nevadans could be put in danger, including over 336,000 enrolled in Medicaid expansion coverage.
- After Nevada expanded Medicaid under the ACA, Nevada experienced the largest decline in the uninsured rate for Latino children in the country.
