As President Biden visits Las Vegas to announce $3 billion in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding for the Brightline West high-speed rail project, the contrast to Donald Trump’s failure to deliver on his promises couldn’t be more clear. While Trump’s infrastructure train grinded to a halt, President Biden and Democrats are bringing historic results to the Silver State despite Republicans’ opposition.
Here’s a look at how Trump failed to deliver infrastructure for Nevadans:
- Under Trump, “infrastructure week” became a long-running joke after years of empty promises and zero results. In fact, Trump’s infrastructure plan would have actually cut federal support for infrastructure in the long run.
- Despite his failures, Trump railed against the Biden administration’s bipartisan efforts to get things done on infrastructure – even encouraging GOP lawmakers to abandon the talks that ultimately led to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
President Biden is building bridges through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law:
- Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure law, Nevada is expected to receive approximately $2.7 billion over five years in federal funding that will go towards repairing 29 bridges and over 1,074 miles of highway across the state.
- The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is expanding broadband coverage across the Silver State. At least 250,000 households in Nevada are enrolled in the Affordable Connectivity Program.
- Nevada has been allocated $180.4 million to improve public transportation options across the state so that Nevadans can get to school and work safely and more efficiently.
- In 2024, Harry Reid International Airport – which serves as a hub for more than three million visitors to Las Vegas each month – is set to receive $46 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for terminal improvements and expansion.
