BREAKING: Bill Codifying Abortion Protections Heads to Lombardo’s Desk

As states across the country enact cruel abortion bans following the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade, the Democratic-led Assembly passed SB131 along party lines – a bill codifying former Gov. Sisolak’s executive order protecting abortion providers and out-of-state patients who travel to Nevada for reproductive care.

After passing the Senate with bipartisan support (which resulted in the NV GOP attacking their own for supporting the measure) last month, the bill now heads to Governor Lombardo, who previously promised to sign it into law.

“As nearby states like Utah and Idaho enact strict abortion bans, Nevada Democrats are taking action to expand abortion protections in the Silver State and ensure anyone can safely provide and receive reproductive care here,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Mallory Payne. “After giving voters whiplash on the campaign trail from his many conflicting stances on the executive order, it’s time for Governor Lombardo to keep his promise to Nevadans and sign this bill into law.”
