Sam Brown’s Q2 haul includes payments to an extreme anti-abortion group, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from billionaires and MAGA extremists
Last week, MAGA extremist Sam Brown released his Q2 fundraising numbers – revealing payments to an extreme anti-abortion group and hundreds of thousands of dollars raised from MAGA billionaires and extremists like disgraced former Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, who shares Brown’s radical agenda of abolishing the Department of Education.
Background on Sam Brown’s Q2 fundraising haul:
- $45,000 from Betsy DeVos and her family. Both Brown and DeVos have repeatedly called to ax the Department of Education, which would put critical funding for Pell Grants, community colleges, career and technical education, and other services for Nevada students on the chopping block.
- Over $50,000 from MAGA corporate billionaires. These tech billionaires are investing in Brown’s campaign because they know he’s pushing to extend massive tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations at the expense of hardworking Nevadans.
- $23,200 from far-right mega donor Thomas Klingenstein and his wife. Between his campaign and PAC, Brown accepted thousands from Klingenstein, who has actively pushed for book bans and anti-LGBTQ+ policies and peddled dangerous election conspiracies.
- $700 to the Women’s Resource Medical Center. Brown’s campaign paid hundreds of dollars to a crisis pregnancy center in Las Vegas – one of the many anti-abortion organizations that Brown’s campaign uplifts despite their promotion of debunked theories that abortion care somehow contributes to future infertility or breast cancer.
Senator Jacky Rosen’s strong grassroots support once again outraised Sam Brown – in fact, this was “the biggest gulf between them of any quarter” to date. Brown is clearly banking on outside dark money groups and Super PACs tied to Mitch McConnell, the Koch Network, and national Republicans to prop up his losing campaign for the next three months.
Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Katharine Kurz
“Sam Brown’s latest fundraising report shows once again that he is an anti-abortion politician being bankrolled by MAGA billionaires, anti-education extremists, and the far-right wing of his party. Brown will say or do anything to win an election, but the truth is that he is out of touch with hardworking Nevadans.”
