Daniele Monroe-Moreno is now Nevada’s first-ever Black Woman State Party Chair after earning support from hundreds of State Central Committee members
Democratic Unity Slate also won all key Officer positions for First Vice Chair, Second Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary
Today, Assemblywoman Daniele Monroe-Moreno was elected as Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party and released the following statement in response to the results of the officer elections:
“I am incredibly grateful and humbled that Nevada Democrats are entrusting me and the rest of our slate to take on these incredibly important roles leading our State Party for the 2024 election cycle. I also want to thank Judith Whitmer, the officers and staff who served alongside her, and everyone who stepped up to run and get more involved. These are demanding volunteer positions that require a lot of time and a deep commitment to electing Democrats at every level, and I hope you will stay in this fight for progress with us.
“We have so much work to do to win this highly competitive battleground state and we are ready to get started today. Over the next two years, I plan to spend every day supporting our dedicated county party chairs, listening to State Central Committee members, and fighting to keep Nevada blue. I look forward to uniting our Democratic family because I know how much we are capable of when we come together as one team. Let’s get to work!”
Daniele Monroe-Moreno, who was first elected to the Nevada Legislature in 2016, is the first Black woman to ever hold a leadership position in the Assembly and currently chairs the Nevada Black Legislative Caucus. In her career in public service, Daniele has spearheaded efforts to ban private prisons in Nevada, combat maternal mortality, defend women’s rights, expand access to the ballot box, pass a public health care option, and expand clean energy. Daniele is a wife, mother, grandmother, former union member and public servant working to make Nevada a better place for every working family.
