As Donald Trump doubles down on his threat to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and rip health care away from millions of Americans, it’s clear that he doesn’t care about the health of Nevadans or the devastating impact that repealing the ACA would have on Nevada’s Latino community.
When Nevada expanded Medicaid under the ACA, 40% of the newly-eligible population was Latino. In fact, the uninsured rate for Latino children in the Silver State decreased from 20% to 13.3% after this expansion – the largest decline in the country. Now, Trump wants to snatch away vital, lifesaving care from Nevada’s families and leave our Latino community behind.
Here’s a look at the devastating impact on Nevada if Trump is successful in repealing the Affordable Care Act:
- As many as 487,000 nonelderly Nevadans with preexisting health conditions could lose the ACA’s protections.
- The health insurance of over 432,000 Nevadans would be at risk, including over 336,000 of those enrolled in Medicaid expansion coverage.
