Unearthed tweets expose Drew Johnson’s connection to Donald Trump’s extreme second term playbook Project 2025 and its authors at The Heritage Foundation think tank. Johnson bragged about it saying “I’ve spent 25yrs working at the Heritage Foundation.” The Trump-Johnson Project 2025 agenda would decimate Social Security for Nevada’s seniors which Johnson called a “failed policy” that turns beneficiaries into a burden on our economy.
Johnson said that anyone who relies on their hard-earned Social Security for their retirement is not a “responsible adult,” but rather, they are a “socialist suckling off the teat of gov’t.” One of his key priorities is raising the retirement age and eliminating Social Security entirely, or, as he likes to code it, “making the program solvent.” He even said himself he wants to cut Social Security by 30 percent. Project 2025 would enact a nationwide abortion ban, force states to report on women’s miscarriages and abortions, cut Social Security and Medicare, repeal the Affordable Care Act, and eliminate the Department of Education, among other dangerous policy priorities.
“Drew Johnson’s connection and commitment to Project 2025 is unquestionable and incredibly out of touch with Nevada,” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado. “While Johnson was working for the architects of Trump’s extreme Project 2025, Congresswoman Susie Lee has been serving Nevada’s working families and is committed to delivering on the kitchen table issues that matter, like protecting reproductive freedom, fighting for more affordable health care and housing, and guarding benefits for veterans and seniors.”
