Tony Grady became the latest candidate to cave and endorse Trump
This morning, former Nevada lieutenant governor candidate Tony Grady officially caved and endorsed Donald Trump for president. Every major candidate in the GOP Senate Primary field has now endorsed Trump and tied themselves to the disgraced former president’s extreme MAGA agenda that has been repeatedly rejected by voters in Nevada.
The candidates’ decisions to tie themselves to Trump have become a centerpiece of the messy GOP primary:
- Brown’s official Trump endorsement – given in an exclusive to far-right outlet Breitbart News earlier this month – came after Brown spent months dodging the question on the campaign trail. Even Brown’s own campaign said that he “won’t endorse in any Republican primary this cycle, including the presidential contest.”
- After previously declining to endorse anyone in the presidential primary, Grady caved to endorse Trump.
- Jeff Gunter is a former Trump ambassador who repeatedly encouraged his fellow candidates to rally behind the former president and took credit for Brown “finally” endorsing Trump.
- Jim Marchant, the first candidate in this crowded primary, endorsed Trump back in July, has repeatedly pushed Trump’s Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen, and is still actively pushing conspiracy theories about it.
Each of these candidates must answer for Trump’s toxic agenda that includes bragging about overturning Roe v. Wade and taking away reproductive freedoms, repealing protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and slashing taxes for the ultra-wealthy and giant corporations.
Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Katharine Kurz
“Each of the GOP Senate candidates have fallen in line with the far-right MAGA wing of their party – and now they will face the consequences that come with tying themselves to a toxic candidate who is responsible for overturning Roe v. Wade and has already lost Nevada twice.”
