Washington Post: In Las Vegas, Trump’s economic pitch set to meet a skeptical audience
Las Vegas Sun: Las Vegas’ tourism slump shadows Trump’s return to Nevada
Welcome back to your weekly rundown of the damage the Lombardo-Trump economy is doing to Nevada — from driving up costs to leaving working families behind.
As Donald Trump tried (and failed) to spin his billionaire-first agenda last night, Joe Lombardo was quick to kiss the ring and completely ignore the reality that Nevadans are facing. Despite Trump’s attempts to take credit for a ‘No Tax On Tips’ law, working families aren’t seeing the promised relief as gas, grocery, and health care bills soar and any actual benefits are designed to expire (unlike the billionaire tax cuts).
Although Trump’s illegal tariffs cost Nevada households an extra $1,700 last year, he still refuses to refund Nevadans and even said “we’re raising tariffs very soon.” While this erratic trade agenda sinks tourism in Las Vegas, hospitality workers are paying the price with reduced hours, less tips, and more layoffs. This is the “pain” that Lombardo wanted, after helping Trump get elected and embracing his endorsement.
