Today, the Nevada State Democratic Party held a press conference with Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno, State Senator Skip Daly, and general counsel Bradley Schrager, to hold the NVGOP accountable for their their continued effort to sow distrust in our election system by filing baseless election lawsuits that continue to get thrown out of court as an attempt to create chaos and prepare themselves to deny the results of a free and fair election once again.
Several NVGOP candidates running for elected office are election deniers and conspiracy theorists; most notably MAGA extremist Sam Brown who has a long history of supporting election conspiracy theories and downplaying the violent events of January 6 and election denier Carrie Buck who falsely claimed that “1,500 dead people voted in 2020.” Last legislative session, Joe Lombardo vetoed SB133, a bill that would have established felony criminal penalties for fake electors who attempt to steal Nevada’s electoral votes, as Trump supporters did in 2020.
“As the Nevada State Democratic Party Chair, it is my number one priority that every Nevada voter have equitable access to the ballot box,’” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno. “On the other side, Nevada Republicans are setting up an environment to amplify more falsehoods, to deny election results once again, as Donald Trump and JD Vance continue to do.”
“In 2020, we saw the Nevada GOP unlawfully submit a slate of fake electors to Congress to be counted. I could not believe that my fellow Nevadans would attempt to steal our six electoral votes,” said District 13 State Senator Skip Daly. “The Nevada GOP is actively fighting against law and order as they KNOW these claims are baseless, and the drastic effects, as we saw, include tragedies like January 6, orchestrated by Donald Trump.”
“I think this is what is most worrisome, that defining these lawsuits, talking about them the way they [the NVGOP] talk about them afterwards: corrupt judges, technicalities, unfairness,” said general counsel Bradley Schrager. “You are seeing the preparation of an environment for disobeying or disregarding judicial authority and judicial orders.”
