Rory Reid: “This issue isn’t Republicans versus Democrats, it’s Sam Brown versus Nevada.”
Today, former Clark County Commission Chair Rory Reid and Nevada environmental leaders gathered in Las Vegas to highlight MAGA extremist Sam Brown’s extreme support for restarting Yucca Mountain that would put the health, safety, and economic security of Nevadans at risk.
Speakers also included Assemblyman Howard Watts III, Executive Director of the National Conservation League Kristee Watson and Climate Power Advisory Board Member Cinthia Moore, who all highlighted the dangers of Sam Brown’s radical plan to make Nevada the nation’s dumping ground for nuclear waste.
“It was deeply, deeply troubling for me to hear that someone is trying to drag that legacy, that my father proudly built, through the mud for their own political gain. This week, audio surfaced of Republican Senate candidate Sam Brown, saying that my late father’s efforts with respect to the nuclear waste issue, was nothing more than fear mongering,” said Reid. “I think that Sam Brown needs a history lesson. I’m happy to provide it here and now. The truth is that the vast majority of those that have been elected to serve the people of Nevada have opposed this project. Many of them come from Mr. Brown’s own party.”
Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Times revealed that MAGA extremist Sam Brown supports a plan to store nuclear waste at Yucca mountain – calling it an “incredible opportunity.” When asked to clarify his position this week, Brown doubled down on his extreme stance – refusing to commit to keeping the rest of the nation’s nuclear waste out of Nevada.
