Brown: The ACA should not be adopted in “any way, shape, or form.”
Just this week, Donald Trump doubled down on his pledge to “terminate” the Affordable Care Act. And he’s not alone in his attacks on ACA: Nevada Senate candidate Sam Brown has long opposed the widely popular health care law and its protections for Nevadans with preexisting conditions.
Here’s a quick recap of Brown’s attacks on quality, affordable health care:
- During Brown’s 2014 bid for Texas House, he said the ACA should not be adopted in “any way, shape, or form” and that “we need to resist it as much as we can here in the state of Texas.” He pledged to “work closely with our conservative leadership to resist the expansion of Obamacare in Texas.”
- In both his past and current campaign websites, Brown has directly attacked the ACA as a key part of his health care priorities.
- Brown called provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act to cap insulin costs at $35/month for seniors and give Medicare the power to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices a “big loss for the American people.”
If Sam Brown had things his way, at least 487,000 Nevadans with pre-existing conditions could lose the ACA’s critical protections, and the health insurance of over 336,000 Nevadans enrolled in Medicaid expansion coverage would be in jeopardy.
Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“MAGA extremists Donald Trump and Sam Brown have made their toxic health care priorities clear: driving up the cost of health care and prescription drugs, and threatening protections for the hundreds of thousands of Nevadans with pre-existing conditions.”
