MAGA Extremist Sam Brown in Spotlight for Supporting Election Conspiracy Theories and Downplaying Deadly January 6 Insurrection

New York Times: Brown “Did not directly answer any of the questions” about willingness to accept the results of the 2024 race

New reporting highlights MAGA extremist Sam Brown’s history of support for election conspiracy theories and refusing to answer basic questions, including whether or not the 2020 presidential election was “stolen.”

Brown has actively spread the extreme election conspiracy theories that fueled the deadly January 6 insurrection, downplayed the violent events of January 6, and supported MAGA efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Nevada even after January 6.

  • He has support from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, but has not yet been able to secure an endorsement from Mr. Trump in the crowded Republican primary scheduled for June.
  • Last week, Mr. Brown responded to a questionnaire from The Las Vegas Review-Journal that asked candidates about election fraud and their willingness to accept the results of their own race in 2024. But he did not directly answer any of the questions.
  • According to the newspaper, Mr. Brown instead responded by raising doubts about election security. He did not provide any specific examples of what he viewed as the risks, and instead pointed to Democratic lawmakers in the state who, in 2020, “rammed through new laws that put ballots and election security at risk.”
  • “These last-minute changes caused many voters to lose confidence in our election systems,” Mr. Brown said.

  • [BROWN] has essentially the same election integrity policy as he did in his Senate run two years ago, which includes a pledge to pass election integrity legislation and to support voter identification measures.
  • Brown at one point attacked his 2022 opponent, Laxalt, for not doing enough in the aftermath of the 2020 election to hand the Silver State to Trump.
  • Brown’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment on his election integrity policies.
