New digital video highlights why Sam Brown’s strong support for making Nevada a nuclear waste dump is so unpopular with Nevadans of both parties
Today, the Nevada State Democratic Party released a new one-minute digital video spotlighting Sam Brown’s extreme support for restarting Yucca Mountain, putting him at odds with Nevada Democrats and Republicans who have long opposed this dangerous plan to make Nevada the nation’s dumping ground for nuclear waste.
Despite bipartisan opposition, Brown sided with Washington politicians and called the proposal to bring nuclear waste to Nevada an “incredible opportunity.”
REPORTER: “For more than three decades, the fight over Yucca Mountain has taken center stage in the United States.”
REPORTER: “Nevada lawmakers have fought the matter since 1987, when Congress chose the barren mountain as the nation’s first nuclear waste repository site.”
For decades, Nevada Democrats and Republicans have agreed: Yucca Mountain should not be a dumping ground for the rest of the country’s nuclear waste.
But recently, Yucca was brought up again in DC.
REPORTER: “Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository may have been dormant for years, but some lawmakers are pushing to revive it.”
Nevada’s opposition to Yucca Mountain has always been bipartisan.
But MAGA extremist Sam Brown supports making Nevada the country’s nuclear waste dumping ground.
SAM BROWN: “If we don’t open Yucca we could miss an incredible opportunity… If we don’t act soon, other states like Texas and New Mexico right now are assessing whether or not they can essentially steal that opportunity from us.”
Sam Brown agrees with the Republican politicians in Washington who want to revive Yucca Mountain.
Don’t let D.C. turn Nevada into the nation’s dumping ground for nuclear waste.
