“On this Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month, I’d like to acknowledge all of the work that Democrats have done to invest in the AANHPI Community,” said Caitlin Gatchalian, the Chair of the AAPI Democratic Caucus. “Thanks to Democratic state and local officials, our community has increased equal access to higher education, ballot access, and increased language equality. For our AANHPI Senior population, insulin has now been capped at $35 thanks to the work of the Biden-Harris Administration. Even now, the administration is working to reinstate monthly checks up to $300 that previously cut AANHPI child poverty to a record low.”
“We are all the more empowered thanks to this work in our community to continue this work and better our community. This is for our future generations.”
The AAPI community is one of the fastest growing constituency bases in Nevada. Nevada’s AAPI community makes up nearly 35,000 business owners across Nevada including 20,000 in Southern Nevada, AAPI voter registration has increased by 15%, or about 2 million eligible voters, in the past four years, and Nevada’s AAPI population has increased by 167% since 2000.
