Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno released the following statement on Donald Trump officially filing to run in the NV GOP caucus:
“Donald Trump and the NV GOP are hellbent on bringing the same MAGA agenda that rigged the economy for the ultra-wealthy, paved the way for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and failed working families in Nevada,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno. “Trump’s out-of-touch agenda could increase costs on our families, slash their hard-earned benefits, and endanger the rights that so many Nevadans hold dear. Voters are looking forward to rejecting Trump and MAGA Republicans in 2024 and reelecting President Biden and Vice President Harris, who are laser-focused on continuing to build our middle class from the bottom up and the middle out, lowering costs, and protecting Nevadans’ rights and democracy.”
Another Trump presidency would be devastating to Nevada:
- Trump gave billions of dollars in tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy and corporations while leaving everyday American families behind, ballooning the national debt in the process.
- He proposed cuts to Social Security and Medicare every single year he was in office and has suggested that cuts could come if he is elected to another term.
- Trump railed against the Inflation Reduction Act and has vowed to repeal it, which could increase health care and prescription drug costs for hundreds of thousands of Nevadans.
- He has repeatedly diminished workers’ ability to organize and made it harder to hold companies accountable for unlawful labor practices. Trump also committed to vetoing the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which would expand organizing and collective bargaining rights for workers.
- Trump tried to tear health care away from millions of Americans by leading repeated efforts by MAGA Republicans to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
- Trump was instrumental in the overturning of Roe v. Wade and has repeatedly bragged about his role in the process. He endorsed a national abortion ban that would have punished abortion-seekers and had providers thrown in jail.
