What Dems Are Doing:
This week, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, Sen. Jacky Rosen, and Rep. Dina Titus were recognized for their effectiveness in Congress and were ranked top 10 most effective members of Congress in their respective congressional chambers in a report by the Center for Effective Lawmaking.
Pushing Back Against Trump Eliminating the Dept. of Education:
- U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto has made clear that Title I resources level the playing field so kids from low-income families can learn and reach for their dreams. Earlier this year, she invited Sparks school Principal Jason Shipman to be her guest at this year’s joint session of Congress address and highlighted the importance of ensuring Nevada students receive a quality education no matter where they live.
- U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen has pledged to fight Donald Trump’s illegal assault on our kids’ education. She noted that dismantling the Department of Education does nothing to raise test scores and only makes it harder for students to thrive.
- Congresswoman Dina Titus said, “Trump’s plan to dismantle the Dept. of Education is a direct attack on our schools and educators. Rep. Titus is offering an amendment to nullify his executive order and ensure every student gets the resources they deserve. Investing in public education isn’t optional.
- Congressman Steven Horsford slammed Donald Trump and Republicans for their plans to cut Medicaid and eliminate the Department of Education to pave the way for tax cuts for billionaires, like Elon Musk.
- Congresswoman Susie Lee, along with parents of children with disabilities, educators, and advocates, gathered at an elementary school to voice their concerns over Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Dept. of Education.
That’s all for now!
