Over the past three months, the Nevada State Democratic Party hosted five Black Male Perspective events, creating a space for Black men to discuss the issues that matter most to them and their communities. In July, NV Dems hosted our first Black Male Perspective event with nearly 80 Black men headlined by Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair Congressman Steven Horsford and Attorney General Aaron Ford and hosted by Mel Tillar, Vice President of 100 Black Men of Las Vegas with special guest Bakari Sellers.
These events are part of a broader effort aligned with Vice President Kamala Harris’s Black male agenda, which focuses on advancing economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, and educational equity for Black men. The forums have played a key role in ensuring that the voices of Black men are heard and represented within the Democratic Party.
“Nevada Democrats have been focused on the issues that matter most to Black men and our communities long before it became a conversation for pundits,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Communications Director Tai Sims. “From Vice President Kamala Harris championing a Black male agenda focused on economic opportunity to Congressional Black Caucus Chair Congressman Horsford leading legislation that would give Black men and our families the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead Democrats up and down the ballot have prioritized policies that would put our community on a New Way Forward.”
