It’s been a rough few weeks for Mitch McConnell’s handpicked candidate Sam Brown and his efforts to run away from his extreme opposition to abortion rights in pro-choice Nevada.
To recap:
- FIRST: Video emerged of Brown from his 2014 campaign for Texas House endorsing an extreme abortion ban that excluded exceptions for rape or incest. The severe Texas law was dubbed “one of the strictest anti-abortion measures in the country.” In video from the Tea Party-hosted forum, Brown also called his opposition to reproductive rights “non-negotiable.”
- NEXT: Brown was caught fundraising off of his support for Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville’s anti-choice blockade of hundreds of key military promotions.
- THEN: Brown “quietly attended” a gala benefiting Nevada Right to Life, a radical anti-choice group that “opposes abortion at all stages of pregnancy” and has praised abortion bans without exceptions for rape or incest.
NOW: Brown is facing a complaint with the Department of Justice over his failure to disclose his role as chairman of the Nevada Faith & Freedom Coalition, a “spin off” of a national anti-choice organization that supports federal bans on abortion and called Roe v. Wade a “moral atrocity.”
