After the Arizona Supreme Court upheld an extreme abortion ban from 1864 with no exceptions for rape or incest, Vice President Harris traveled to Las Vegas to place the blame for the ban squarely on Trump’s shoulders. Last week, Donald Trump bragged that he’s “proudly the person responsible” for overturning Roe v. Wade and said states should be able to punish doctors for providing critical abortion care. That’s not all – he also claimed that the extreme abortion bans that resulted from the fall of Roe meant that the decision was “working the way it is supposed to.” Make no mistake: Trump has promised “to be leading the charge” in enacting a national abortion ban that would completely wipe out reproductive freedom for Nevada women and supersede the will of voters who enshrined abortion rights into state law decades ago.
MAGA extremist and Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sam Brown has made his opposition to abortion rights clear over the last decade. He has repeatedly supported abortion bans with no exceptions for rape or incest and strongly supported overturning Roe v. Wade. He backed an extreme abortion ban in Texas with no exceptions for rape or incest that was considered one of the “toughest restrictions in the country.” He even declared that his anti-abortion position is “non-negotiable.”
During the last legislative session, every single GOP legislator voted against enshrining the right to infertility care and abortion rights into Nevada’s Constitution.
“Donald Trump orchestrated the fall of Roe v. Wade, and in turn, has ripped reproductive freedom away from millions of women. From Florida to Arizona, his fellow extremist Republicans have shown just how far they’ll go in their crusade against women’s right to choose,” said Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Tai Sims. “Trump’s bans are wreaking havoc across the country, and it’s all too clear that if he’s elected to a second term, he’ll sign a national abortion ban and take away Nevadans’ reproductive freedom as well. Nevada voters know this, and that’s why they’ll re-elect President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senator Jacky Rosen and Democrats up and down the ticket to protect our hard-won freedoms.”
