New complaint filed with the Department of Justice by NV Dems Chair outlines how Brown left the position off of his Personal Financial Disclosure report in apparent violation of federal law
| Mitch McConnell’s handpicked candidate Sam Brown is facing a complaint over his efforts to hide his role as President and Chairman of a radical anti-choice organization from his Personal Financial Disclosure report. The new complaint has been filed by Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno with the Department of Justice seeking an immediate investigation and “all appropriate penalties and corrective action.” In November 2022, Brown was announced as chairman of the Nevada chapter of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, a national anti-choice group that supports federal bans on abortion and called Roe v. Wade a “moral atrocity.” The far-right group also opposes federal protections for same-sex and interracial marriage. Despite calling his leadership position at Nevada Faith & Freedom Coalition a “passion project” last year, Brown left the position off of his legally required personal financial disclosure reports in apparent violation of federal law. According to the complaint, the Ethics in Government Act stipulates any individual who knowingly and willfully fails to file required information in a PFD can face civil penalties of up to $71,316. This unethical contempt for public disclosure obligations and refusal to share legally required information with Nevada voters deserves to be fully investigated.” |
