As SB133 – a bill to criminalize fake electors – makes its way to the governor’s desk, this is a reminder that Lombardo has loyally stood by fake electors after their scheme to fraudulently certify Nevada’s electoral votes in 2020 for Donald Trump.
Lombardo is a “longtime friend” of NV GOP Chair Michael McDonald, who had his phone seized by the FBI and was questioned by the January 6th Committee. And just last week, he endorsed Clark County GOP Chair Jesse Law for re-election. Despite pretending to prioritize public safety, Lombardo has repeatedly peddled the Big Lie to cater to the MAGA base.
The clock is ticking: will Lombardo continue to protect election deniers who have pushed conspiracies that resulted in the death of officers, or will he (finally) stand on the side of democracy and law enforcement?
SB133 comes after Nevada Republicans signed and submitted fake election certification documents to the federal government in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election, furthering baseless claims about election fraud, paving the way for the deadly Capitol insurrection on January 6th, 2021, and prompting a federal investigation into the fraudulent documents.
