Brown said he would not support the Senate bill to strengthen protections for IVF across the country
As the Senate prepares to vote once more on major federal protections for IVF and other assisted reproductive services, MAGA extremist Sam Brown continues to oppose federal protections for IVF and is a direct threat to Nevadans’ ability to choose when and how to start a family. The Right to IVF Act would establish a nationwide right to access IVF and require health insurance companies to cover fertility treatments for Americans who want to start or grow their families.
Brown has admitted he would vote against federal protections for IVF and other assisted reproductive services if he were in the Senate, saying that IVF regulation is “a states’ rights issue.”
Brown has made his extreme opposition to reproductive freedom clear over the last decade. He has repeatedly supported abortion bans with no exceptions for rape or incest, including an extreme abortion ban in Texas that was considered one of the “toughest restrictions in the country,” and he strongly supported overturning Roe v. Wade. Brown even declared that his anti-abortion position is “non-negotiable” for him.
Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Katharine Kurz
“Whether it’s his decade-long anti-abortion record or his opposition to federal protections for fertility treatments, Sam Brown is proving over and over that he is wildly out of step with Nevada and will not defend our reproductive freedoms. Overturning Roe v. Wade – a move that Brown and other anti-choice extremists pushed for – put access to IVF in danger in the first place and paved the way for extreme restrictions in states that have hindered a woman’s ability to start or grow her family.”
